I was at the dealership a few weeks ago for an oil change and 24000 mile service. When I went in my window wiper spray was working but a day after the service it was not. This was our third Subaru purchase, and City Limits Subaru gave us one of the best dealership experiences we’ve ever had.
I live in McAllen and wanted to handle essentially the entire purchase remotely, then travel to Austin only to pick up the vehicle. That is not the normal car-buying process, but City Limits made it remarkably easy.
At about 7:08 AM on Friday, August 7, while I was on a flight, I submitted their online prequalification. Sophie, the Sales Assistant, immediately confirmed they had received my information and said a sales consultant would review everything once they opened. We exchanged emails while I was still in the air.
By about 9:11 AM, Edwin Martinez, my Sales Consultant, introduced himself, confirmed he had reviewed everything, and told me he was actively working to make a deal. The service started so strongly that I honestly expected it to eventually taper off.
It never did.
Throughout the day, while I moved through airports and two flights, Edwin and the team kept communicating, answering questions, adjusting the deal, and getting what they needed from me. I was simultaneously speaking with other Subaru dealerships, and the difference in communication, coordination, and urgency was dramatic.
By the time I landed in McAllen, I had enough information to talk everything over with my wife at lunch. Before we left the restaurant, Edwin had gotten the deal to a place we were comfortable with and I submitted the full finance application from my phone.
Later that afternoon, Armando, the Finance Manager, called me personally to go through the approval and financing. By 5:38 PM, every document was electronically signed from home. From an online prequalification around 7:08 AM to a completed vehicle purchase that same afternoon, all while I was traveling. Exceptional execution.
The next day, rental car issues delayed our arrival from around noon until nearly 5 PM. Edwin stayed flexible and made it clear they would work around us. When we arrived, he greeted us at the door and took us directly to our new Outback Touring XT, which was waiting under a covered delivery area. In Texas in August, that little detail matters.
Edwin walked us through the vehicle, helped configure CarPlay, patiently answered all of my wife’s questions, and made sure we were comfortable before leaving. We were essentially in and out in under 30 minutes, and most of that time was because we had questions and wanted to visit the merch shop.
Armando came out of his office to introduce himself and congratulate us, and Jason also walked over from the showroom to do the same. That reinforced something I had already noticed: this was not simply one great salesperson. There appears to be a genuinely customer-focused culture throughout the dealership.
Edwin also gave us a tour. The full complimentary coffee bar with an actual barista, private workspaces, kids’ areas, dog park, merch shop, and overall facility create a genuinely premium Subaru ownership experience.
City Limits has earned not only my future vehicle purchases, but my service business as well, even though I have a Subaru dealership much closer to home.
And the referrals are already happening organically. Since getting the Outback, three friends have been asking us about the vehicle and our buying experience and were genuinely excited when I gave them Edwin’s contact information for their own Subaru purchases.
Edwin absolutely crushed it. Sophie set the tone, Edwin carried that level of service through the transaction, Armando got the financing and paperwork across the finish line, and the entire team reinforced the experience in person.

The service guy was very nice. They did some work on my wheels when they left one of the tires about 4 pounds lower in air than the other three.
Was told because I had over 24,000 miles I would have to pay for my oil change. I was told by my salesperson when I bought the car that the first 4 oil changes were free. I was never told that there was a mileage limit for the oil change. It did not sit well with me.
Satisfied The visit was short and sweet with no surprises! The service staff was impressive.
Average, I didn't know Subaru doesn't handle insurance claims or damage. I wasted days my car was at City Limits Subaru, both Insurance companies did not advise me of this.

I went in needing an oil change and to have them look at a malfunctioning automatic window and washer fluid sensor.
It was determined that the regulator of the passenger side window malfunctioned. The regulator had been replaced already three years earlier, at the Georgetown dealership, for the same issue. I did not believe that I should have to pay to replace a part that had not only little use but also was already replaced for the same reason.
After getting the service documents from the time, Jacob submitted the issue to the customer advocacy group who determined that the regulator would be replaced at no charge.
A week later I picked up the car and Jacob in his mission to replace the regulator, forgot about the oil change I had requested. He put my car at the top of the queue for an oil change.
On my way back to work, I noticed an odd sound as if the wind was rushing over something incorrectly.
Looking below the car I discovered that the bottom access cover to the washer fluid tank was torn to shreds along with the wheel well.
I had declined a replacement for the washer fluid tank since it was just the sensor and could not justify the $500 price since it mechanically worked, the sensor was just busted. I am assuming that the mechanics did not re-secure the cover when I declined the replacement.
I sent Jacob pictures and he apologized and said they would replace the part at no cost since it was their mistake.
I am wondering why no one noticed the loose cover during the oil change.
Also, a screw cover, behind the handle, on the interior of the passenger side door was damaged when they had to take apart the door to replace the regulator and will not snap back in securely. But I only noticed this after everything else. I will just get some tape or sticky puddy to keep it close because it probably means the entire interior door cover has to be replaced.
Our Service Advisor Jacob Mathews was excellent! Very kind and extremely helpful throughout the entire process.

I brought my car in for a 24000 service. All of the fluids were checked and changed. However, the next day, I tried to spray my windshield and no spray came out. When my husband looked under the hood and I again tried to spray my windshield, no spray came out, but the fluid was leaking out under the car. The spray was working great before the service and now it's not. I had to make another appointment for next Saturday, which upsets me
1 hour and 45 minute for an oil change is unacceptable It took way too long
